Pretoria Archaeology Club for Schools (PACS)
PACS was founded in 2016 by Mpho Maripane, a junior lecture at UNISA and a Masters graduate from the University of Pretoria. Her mission is to change the mind-set of young people and teach them that archaeology is not as boring as it has been stereotyped to be. The main goal of PACS is involving schools from the townships and other disadvantaged areas to learn and understand the discipline of archaeology and what it is really about, and ultimately learn to appreciate their heritage and have an open mind about the world around them.
