Emma Cleminson and Bacara Spruit both serve on the council of the Southern African Archaeology Student Society (SAASS), which is the brainchild of Tim Forssman and Matt Lotter. Started in 2013, the SAASS aims to address students’ needs and critical skills gaps often overlooked in the university curriculum by providing skill-building and networking opportunities for young heritage, palaeoscience, and archaeology students. The initiates used include social media campaigns, an interactive website, and an annual student development workshop. Emma and Bacara will talk to us about some of these initiatives.
